    The Catch 2023 leaves port

    Today, on October 2, at 12 o’clock sharp, the next edition of the successful CTF competition The Catch begins. This time, our colleagues from the Forensic Laboratory will take us on a ship full of sophisticated network technologies, where the contestants will have to master challenging tasks. The ship bears the name of our great colleague Josef Verich – networking guru. Traditionally, the competition is held in October – the cybersecurity month.

    Easier connection to the eduroam network

    Connecting to the eduroam network is a little easier for users. Now they can use the geteduroamapp to shorten and simplify the whole process. After downloading from Google Play or the Apple App Store, you search for your organization, enter your eduroam name (username@realm.cz) and password, and enable eduroam to be added to WiFi networks. The app is user-friendly and secure. It is available for Android 8 and above or iOS. Read more here.

    About the development of a 400 GbE FPGA card for monitoring very fast networks on Root

    Our colleague Jakub Cabal from the Administration and Security Tools Department describes the development of a new 400 GbE FPGA acceleration card in his article on Root. Unlike conventional commodity network cards, FPGA technology provides high flexibility. The FPGA firmware can be easily updated, added with new features or completely changed for a new application.     CESNET connected Prague and Memphis using low-latency MVTP technology

    At the international Network Performing Arts Production Workshop, focused on the use of ICT in education and collaboration in live culture, we demonstrated our MVTP technology for remote collaboration. We connected the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music in Memphis. We connected musicians across the ocean in real time using our unique MVTP technology, based on programmable hardware.
