As the anniversary of Jan Gruntorad’s induction into the Internet Hall of Fame approaches and as part of the celebration of 30 years of the Internet in the Czech Republic, the life story of our director emeritus is presented on the website www.internethalloffame.org. The annual competition The Catch, associated with European Cybersecurity Month, is coming up, this time with the subtitle “Catch the packet”. This year you will become an employee of Mysterious Delivery Ltd. This company is facing many problems. Why is the AI management company wrong? Where do packages go? You will discover all this and much more in our tasks. We are starting at noon on Monday 10 October!

10th annual European Cybersecurity Month to raise awareness of safe behaviour in cyberspace began on October 1st. The Cybersecurity Festival is taking place in the Czech Republic under the auspices of NÚKIB. Within its framework, CESNET organizes the CTF competition, The Catch, aimed at testing knowledge and skills in the field of cybersecurity and in cooperation with CZ.NIC organizes the conference “Digital literacy and security in the online environment.”

The winners of the science show FameLab, of which CESNET is a partner, are known. Today’s final was exciting until the last moment. All eleven finalists put on an incredible performance. Two winners, chosen by the jury and the audience, Eliška Jandová and Terezie Páníková, receive a financial gift of CZK 10,000 from CESNET for their further research activities. The prizes were handed over personally by the director of CESNET Jakub Papírník. Congratulations and best wishes for personal and professional success.

CESNET demonstrated its technologies for remote collaboration at the international Network Performing Arts Production Workshop (NPAPW), which took place on September 12-14, 2022 in Tallinn, Estonia. Musicians were connected in real time between Tallinn and Prague in a joint performance thanks to MVTP technology developed by the CESNET association.

On 20 October, as part of European Cyber Security Month, we are preparing a conference on Digital Literacy and Security in the Online Environment in cooperation with CZ.NIC. We will meet at the National Technical Library in Prague. We will be looking for answers to questions related to the growing importance of modern technologies in our lives and safe behaviour in cyberspace.
