    The Catch 2022 winners were awarded

    The winner of The Catch 2022 is Michal Sládeček. He received a medal and valuable prizes at yesterday’s award ceremony in the new CESNET premises, attended by the association’s management. Michal got through all the challenges in the fastest time of 23 hours and 5 minutes. Inconsistent studying of the rules, when Michal thought he had only 24 hours to solve all the tasks, turned out to be a competitive advantage. Among the winners was Petr Vaněk, who participated in all six autumn editions of The Catch. He appreciated that the competition is improving. The tasks are interest

    The new feature in ZOOM – sign language interpretation

    We have launched a new function which facilitates sign language interpretation within the ZOOM service. The pilot group of users from the Masaryk University Teiresiás Support Centre for Students with Special Needs successfully tested the service. When planning a meeting or webinar, the host selects sign language interpretation in the interpretation section. The interpreter is selected from a list or invited on an ad-hoc basis. At the beginning of the webinar or meeting, the host must start the interpretation feature. This enables a special window layout on the participants’ screen

    Data from the LHC accelerator will continue to be transmitted over the CESNET network

    The CERN International Research Laboratory has launched a new phase of data loading at the world’s largest accelerator, the LHC. Some of the vast amount of data produced by experiments at the LHC will continue to be processed through the CESNET optical science network during the new phase. Experiments at the LHC already deliver tens of petabytes per year. The data are processed in hundreds of computing centres distributed around the world. One of these is the CZ Tier-2 centre, centred at the Institute of Physics of the CAS. More in our new report.

    Registration for the e-IRG Workshop in Prague is now open

    CESNET as the local host coordinates the organization of the e-IRG Workshop under the Czech EU Presidency. The workshop takes place from December 12th to 13th in Prague. The workshop is focused on four main topics: coordination and collaboration among European e-infrastructures – the e-IRG White Paper 2022, energy crisis and e-infrastructures, data infrastructures and data spaces, interlinking – interaction between data, publications, and PIDs.
