Remembering Alexander Černý
On Tuesday, 12 November 2024, the long-time member of the CESNET Board of Directors, Alexander Černý, RNDr. Alexander Černý, bursar emeritus of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, passed away. Alexander was a member of our association from the very beginning, during his time at the Brno University of Technology. We thank him for the incredible 28 years he helped us with the development of CESNET, and express our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

CSNOG 2025: Extension of the deadline for abstract submission to 15 November 2024
The organizers of CSNOG 2025 have extended the deadline for submitting abstracts for the main conference program. Interested applicants can submit their applications until Friday 15 November 2024. Contributions on network management, but also on legislation and regulation or networking activities of students and teachers are welcome.

Article by Sven Ubik in Connect magazine
Sven Ubik from CESNET's Network Applications Technology Department has published an article in the prestigious Connect magazine of the pan-European network GÉANT, of which CESNET is a member. In the article, he introduced the unique MVTP (Modular Video Transmission Platform) technology, which enables low-cost transmission of music performances over long distances. Thanks to MVTP, musicians can play together even if they are separated by thousands of kilometres - and the result will sound as if they are on the same stage together.

Amazing news! Jan Gruntorád, the father of Czech internet and founder of CESNET - has been awarded the Medal of Merit in the field of technology by the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel. Congratulations!

Musical telebridge across continents: Prague and Vienna played for Hong Kong
Saturday 19 October was an important day for our colleagues from the Network Application Technology Department. They were responsible for one of the largest low-latency broadcasts, connecting musicians in Prague with musicians in Vienna and broadcasting the concert to the other side of the globe, to a music festival in Hong Kong.

CESNET at the Future Forces exhibition
In October, we participated in the international exhibition Future Forces in Prague, focused on modern technologies in defence and security. At our booth we presented together with representatives of INTELDAT, a company specializing in custom manufacturing of fiber optic components.
