Basic features

CESNET NIC allocates address resources, i.e., assigns IP addresses, to organizations connected to the CESNET3 network, handles communication with the RIPE NCC (Regional Internet Registry for Europe and the Middle East), and maintains up-to-date contact information for the allocated networks in the RIPE database.

At the end of the contract and upon disconnection from the CESNET network, the organization must return the allocated address resources.

Organizations connected to CESNET (or in the process of connecting) can request the following from CESNET NIC:

  • Allocation of the first address range (both IPv4 and IPv6);
  • Allocation of additional address ranges if the current range is exhausted and expansion is needed.
  • Contact information is changed in the RIPE database.

For an additional fee, CESNET provides:

  • LIR sponsoring
  • Support for setting up your own LIR authority
  • Assistance with IPv6 protocol implementation

Centralized management of Internet resources.

The service is available to organizations connected to the CESNET e-infrastructure, and organizations in the process of being connected to the CESNET e-infrastructure.

The basic CESNET NIC services are provided free of charge.

For LIR sponsoring, assistance in setting up separate LIRs and assistance in launching the network IPv6 protocol, fees are set up individually.
