Basic features

The Remotely Triggered Black Hole (RTBH) filter empowers connected entities to manage their network operations, particularly during abnormal traffic events such as (D)DoS floods. Using the BGP protocol, it identifies illegitimate incoming traffic to the end network, directing the backbone network to discard it and prevent overloading the participants' access lines. This service is integral to the tools provided for entity security self-management.

Additionally, the technical contact can request CESNET's ServiceDesk to block illegitimate traffic targeting specific IP addresses or services.

  • Filtering of unwanted traffic at the edge of the participant’s network, leveraging the e-infrastructure’s backbone network.
  • Minimization of unwanted saturation on the participant’s access line.
  • The organization can self-regulate using the BGP protocol.

The service is available to all organizations connected to the CESNET e-infrastructure using the BGP route protocol.

The service is available free of any additional charge to the organization connected to the CESNET e-infrastructure.
