- The storage system is designed with high levels of redundancy and robust data security.
- To further enhance security, backups are maintained at external locations outside the organization.
Basic features
Data repositories are key parts of the National Data Infrastructure, making it easy to share and store large volumes of scientific data across organizations. They handle data too large for standard disk arrays, support archiving and backups during the National Repository Platform’s development, and cater to special data storage needs.
While the National Repository Platform is being built to manage long-term data with metadata tagging, the existing repositories already provide crucial backup and archival services. Individual users can access up to 2 TB through the S3 repository with a simple request. For larger volumes or group storage, users should contact support.
Types of Services:
- For individual users (up to 2 TB/user) or testing, access to the S3 repository can be requested directly.
- For groups or larger data volumes, please contact user support.
Storage Features:
- Fully integrated into the user account system within the e-infrastructure, aligning with MetaCenter and the collaboration environment.
- Supports geographically distributed backups across locations in Brno, Dolní Břežany, Jihlava, Ostrava, and Pilsen, Czech Republic.
- Primarily object-based, built on the Ceph system with S3 and RBD interfaces.
- Designed with high redundancy and data security.
- Accessible from any network location.
- Certified under the ČSN EN ISO/IEC 27001:2014 standard for information security management.
The storage service can be used for research purposes, mainly by academic staff and students of research institutions in the Czech Republic.
The service is designed for organizations connected to the CESNET e-infrastructure. It is available to academics, students, and staff of research institutions in the Czech Republic for educational and research purposes.
The servise is free for users under organizations connected to the CESNET e-infrastructure, once they submit the application form. The basic VO Storage service allows authenticated users to store up to 2 TB of data.
Fees for additional features such as service-level agreements (SLAs), geo-replication, or multiple-copy data storage are determined on an individual basis.
