About the event

The 11th Customer Empowered Fibre Networks Workshop was held in Prague from April 18th to 19th.

Workshop disseminated knowledge needed for further development of dark fibre footprint and advanced applications for the worldwide Research and Education Community (REC).

The scope of the 11th CEF Networks workshop topics was quite open, presentations were focused on the following topics:

  • Photonic (all-optical) services, spectrum services, spectrum sharing, dark spectrum channels, alien waves, optimal or dynamic usage of transmission spectrum, and virtual fibre networks
  • SDN approach, end to end services for high precision and high bandwidth, performance applications, real-time applications of wide-area all-optical networks
  • Multi-vendor/disaggregated lighting of CEF networks, interoperability and vendor-independent description of transmission systems
  • Dark fibre or channel test-beds and experimental facilities (in campuses, regional, national, or continental) used for experiments and additional production traffic
  • Rapidly developing applications of photonic or dark fibre connectivity (cryptography, metrology, seismology, security, space applications, sensing, sensor networks, etc.)
  • Deployments and testing of high-speed transmission systems, power, and footprint consumption reduction
  • Development of dark fibre footprint used for Research and Education, spectrum sharing, and new types of fibres including acquisition

Venue

Vienna House Andel’s Prague

Stroupeznickeho 21. 150 00 Prague

How to get there

The venue: ANDEL´S, a hotel with conference halls, and modern premises. There are large shopping center premises nearby, services and restaurants, etc. Easily reachable by Prague´s public transportation system, Metro station “Andel” is very near the place.

How to get there:

First, you have to buy a general public transport ticket directly at the airport, there are more possibilities, see https://www.dpp.cz/en/fares/fare-pricelist . A simple paper version can be bought in yellow vending machines there; do not forget to stamp it inside the bus.

From the airport:

Bus no. 119 (the stop is right outside, in front of the middle of the arrival hall, just walk straight and look for the signs) the bus will take you to the Metro station “Nadrazi Veleslavin” (15 minutes). Bus 119 ends there, no need for stress. Then, change to Metro (subway) and go 6 stations (in the direction mentioned in the signs as “Depo Hostivar”) to the station “Můstek” (10 minutes) where you have to change to line B (follow the yellow colour signs for changing). Then, go 3 stops to the station  “Anděl”  (6 minutes). There are two exits out of the metro station there, so the shorter way to the venue is to go direction mentioned as “Anděl”. And there, the venue is, just round the corner, 300 meters from the exit. Good luck!

From anywhere else:

Use the subway (Metro). By any line go, and change to line B (yellow) and get to the station “Anděl” and then, see above.

You can also use trams or buses to get there. If a taxi is used from any place, it is recommended to ask them for the expected final price before you start the journey with them.

Enjoy the journey!
